About my Blog

With a combined love for food, travel and the written word, a blog is born. I have a passion for food - the textures, the tastes, the smells, and most importantly of all: the memories that go along with sharing a great meal with friends. I am spending a year in Germany with the ultimate goal of traveling as much as possible, eating as much as I can, and documenting it all for you to enjoy. We'll call this research for my future food establishment...which means I can write off all the money I spend on food. Right?

Really good soup...I mean REALLY, really good soup

Even on a hot day, sometimes a great bowl of soup can really hit the spot. A few weeks ago I went to Munich to spend a few days exploring the city on my own. I fell in love. Munich is a big city with a lot to offer. It is gorgeous. I have never been to any other city that is so modern, yet can still retain and proudly display its unique and fascinating history.

On my second day there, I went on a three-hour walking tour of the city. Afterwards I was starving! The tour guide was vegan and recommended a suppenkuche in the Viktualienmarkt, a small farmers-type market near town hall. I booked it over to the small tent and after a brief scan of the mostly-vegetarian menu, I chose a tomato tofu curry soup to satisfy my hunger. I watched as the woman helping me scooped a large portion into a bowl, add a scoop of jasmine rice and a generous sprinkling of saffron. Amazing. My piping hot bowl of yum was just
as delicious as it looked.

Can't wait to go back!

Redemption in Verona: A picture post

Getting pick-pocketed, shitty pizza and bad luck on Claire's part had us all leaving Venice with a small chip on our shoulders. Luckily redemption was found in the form of food in Verona on our ride home. Scio Rum was our saving grace. Here are some pictures of our delicious mid-day meal.

So long Italy! Arrivederci!

Picture of the Week

The Louvre
Paris, France

Another beautiful picture from my backpacking adventures. My friend Ashley and I were lucky enough to spend some time in Paris, and The Louvre was at the top of our list of must-sees. Although the glass pyramid entrance is beautiful during the day, at night it has a different beauty to lend. The sight is almost overwhelming knowing that this museum houses such great works as the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. You could easily spend days wandering the museum. Not being an art buff myself, I borrowed Ashley's pass at the end of the day and made sure I got a good look at Lisa before we left.

Paris is amazing, the Louvre is amazing, France is amazing. Go visit now.
